Chapter 425 - 331: Death Curse? For Me, Galos, It’s a Blessing! (Part 2)

"Sorry, Mr. Lich."

Shire’s slender fingers flashed out like lightning and clasped the crystal life box. A smile appeared on his handsome face, "This thing no longer belongs to you now."

"You—?!"

The soul fire in Phillips’ eye socket flickered violently, as if hit by a hurricane, almost bursting apart!

He hadn’t expected that this Boundary Walker had been tailing him all along.

Space-type magic requires great talent and is among the most difficult types, alongside time-type magic; many Legendary Mages are clueless about the Path of Space.

Phillips, being a Mage specializing in Necromancy, wasn’t adept at space-type skills himself, but he was well aware of the terrifying power of space abilities. Thus, at the critical juncture of this underground cave, he had set some traps and alert spells involving space layers to prevent someone like Shire from silently and invisibly approaching through spatial means.

However, specialized skills have advantages. His space methods were still lacking.

All those traps were deciphered and evaded by the Boundary Walker, so during Phillips’ entire return to his lair, he couldn’t detect even the slightest trace of being tracked.

"Give me back the life box!!"

Shock instantly turned into fury as the Witch Demon fiercely raised his withered claws. A death ray condensed to the extreme was instantly cast, shooting toward Shire.

However, Shire’s figure had already turned into a faint shadow and faded away.

The death ray only pierced through the shadow he left behind, slamming into the obsidian altar behind.

Shire did not attempt to hide again within the space crevice but continued to perform short-distance flashes, rapidly escaping towards the outside of the cave.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to hide and slip away, but he couldn’t.

Maintaining stillness hidden in the space crevice and continuously traversing and wandering within complex spatial structures are entirely different concepts, with vastly different energy consumptions.

The former consumes very little.

While the latter, especially tracking a Legendary Witch Demon and avoiding its space warnings, is an extremely heavy burden on Shire right now, already leaving him mentally exhausted with enormous energy consumption, unable to support high-intensity space wandering in the short term.

"Chase! Chase him! Kill him! Retrieve the life box!!"

Watching the figure flickering away in the passage, the Witch Demon roared hysterically, the soul fire burning furiously due to extreme anger and fear.

Instantly, all dormant undead guards within the cave erupted into motion!

Skeleton Warriors crawled up from the ground and walls, wielding dangerous weapons; Ghostly Beldam emitted sharp screeches, phasing through walls directly; an Abomination Giant Beast stitched together from countless corpse pieces, emitting a foul stench, shattered the stone door on the side and charged out roaring.

Phillips himself also forced himself to follow despite his weakness, staggering along, the soul fire in his sockets almost gushing out.

Even if he were truly crushed by the Red Iron Dragon back then, it would be better than having his life box forcibly taken now.

As long as the life box exists, he can be resurrected even if his body is destroyed, albeit at great cost and time, merely falling into a longer slumber.

But if the life box is lost, for a Witch Demon, it means true and irrevocable termination.

Shire, relying on his last bit of strength and skillful body technique, forcibly broke through the layers of blockades from the undead guards in the cave, finally rushed to the outside world.

His figure swiftly shuttled through the moonlit dense forest, his movements as light as water brushing through leaves, hardly making a sound.

However, his speed couldn’t increase.

The life box in his hand containing a soul of legendary essence was surprisingly heavy.

Neither his spatial skills nor his portable storage tool could accommodate it.

Plus, it was too close.

Waves of bone-chilling negative energy continuously radiated from the life box, seeming capable of freezing the soul, persistently eroding his flesh and soul as a living being, causing a severe impact that significantly slowed his speed.

Over time, not only did he fail to distance himself, but the eerie sounds of pursuit from the undead legion behind grew nearer and clearer.

"Tear him apart! Retrieve the life box!!"

Phillips’ frantic voice echoed in the silent night sky, the undead relentlessly pursuing.

Finally, Shire broke out of the dense forest into a relatively open wasteland.

The undead followed closely, surging out of the forest.

"Come any closer, and I will destroy this thing!"

Shire maintained his speed while raising the life box in his hand, his other hand gripping the Cross Knight Sword, issuing a threat with a slightly breathless voice due to excessive exertion.

Far ahead, Phillips remained silent, desperately driving his undead mount to accelerate closer, his hollow sockets locked onto that human silhouette ahead, with flames of madness burning within.

Shire shook his head slightly, no longer wasting words, concentrating his dwindling mental energy, continuing to search for a breakthrough direction.

The moment he touched the life box, he felt it clearly.

This life box was protected by a Legendary Domain-level force that emanated from within. With his power, it’s impossible to shatter it, nor even leave a scratch.

Phillips clearly understood this too, thus completely ignoring his threat.

Hiss—ah ah ah!!!

A sharp sound like an ice blade scraping glass burst from the mouth of the Ghostly Beldam, an invisible sound wave swept past Shire’s body instantly.

His movements abruptly stalled, his speed inevitably slowed a bit again.
