Chapter 2 Resentment and Revenge
Chapter 2 Resentment and Revenge
Resentment can bring a corpse back to life and settle a grudge.
Once the great revenge is achieved, the resentment will dissipate, and the corpse will return to its original state.
Xu Yan had wondered what constituted revenge, but now that he had obtained the resentment, he no longer needed to think about it.
Let them take their own revenge; that's better than anything else.
When the resentment was injected into the corpse, the originally calm body trembled slightly before returning to calm.
"It takes time to infuse the resentment; as long as the corpse remains, one incense stick's worth of time will suffice."
Xu Yan put away the autopsy report he had already written and walked up to Constable Guo: "Alright, let's go to the main hall. Lord Zhang must be getting impatient."
Officer Guo raised an eyebrow slightly and extended his right hand: "Let me see the records."
Old Xu was acting strangely today. Now that he had accepted the money from the Wang family, he wanted to make sure everything went smoothly, otherwise he would lose his job.
Xu Yan nodded and handed the record to Constable Guo.
He understood what Officer Guo meant, but what he recorded was all standard procedure, so he wasn't afraid of being seen.
Guo, the head constable, glanced at the record, handed it back, and placed his hand on his long sword: "Let's go."
The two did not say much and walked towards the main hall.
……
Lobby.
Magistrate Zhang opened the autopsy record, glanced through it, and nodded, saying, "He was indeed killed by a thug. Young Master Wang was too weak to even kill a chicken, so there's no possibility that he committed the crime."
Upon hearing this, the beautiful woman, Chen Linshi, knelt down a few steps, her eyes filled with tears.
"Sir, he is not weak; he knows martial arts. You can have someone test him."
"We must not let the seven members of the Chen family die unjustly based on his one-sided account."
"My lord, I..."
"Shut up!"
Constable Guo stepped forward and slapped Chen Linshi across the face: "Roaring in court, you should have received twenty strokes of the cane, but considering you are six months pregnant, if there is a next time, you will be punished without mercy!"
Chen Linshi lay on the ground, her eyes filled with despair, her fingers gripping the ground tightly as she wept silently.
Not far away, Wang Xun revealed a smug look and clasped his hands in a fist salute.
"My lord, since you are innocent, I will take my leave now. I will have my father come another day to discuss the business of the merchant guild."
Magistrate Zhang nodded slightly.
Chen Linshi sighed and cried, then suddenly glanced at Xu Yan out of the corner of her eye, and crawled to Xu Yan on all fours.
"Sir, you are the coroner, and you can verify fingerprints. Please be careful and seek justice for the Chen family."
She cried for a while, then pointed at Wang Xun.
"Wang Xun raped me, which was discovered by my husband. He then cruelly murdered members of the Chen family, and the killer remains at large. How can the innocent members of my Chen family who died unjustly rest in peace!"
Wang Xun had already gotten up, ready to leave.
But when he heard this, he stopped and gave Xu Yan a smug look.
This coroner is corrupt; many people in Anping County know this. He took money from the Wang family, so why would he help Chen Linshi?
He wanted to see what funny things Chen Linshi would do.
Once the woman is convicted of false accusation and imprisoned, he can bribe the jailer and then enjoy her pregnancy.
"My lord...my lord..."
Chen Linshi cried her heart out, having exhausted all her strength.
She suddenly felt utterly hopeless, as if she were on a cliff edge with no one to help her.
"It would be better to be dead."
Chen Linshi looked at the pillar beside her, intending to smash her head against it and stain the place with her blood.
Just then, a large hand touched her shoulder.
Chen Lin looked up and saw a pair of clear, black and white eyes, and was slightly taken aback.
"You are pregnant and should not get angry."
Xu Yan withdrew his hand: "Heaven's justice is clear, and good and evil will be rewarded accordingly."
Upon hearing this, Wang Xun's expression froze, and his smile remained stiff on his face.
Guo, the head constable, frowned even more deeply, feeling that Xu Yan was acting increasingly strangely today.
Magistrate Zhang, however, remained expressionless, slamming his gavel: "Bring the prisoner Chen Linshi to jail!"
Two constables stepped forward, ready to escort Chen Linshi away.
But just then, a cold, eerie wind suddenly blew.
Many constables subconsciously looked towards the direction where the cold wind was blowing, and then their expressions suddenly froze.
A constable pointed outside, trembling, and said, "The corpse... has come back to life!"
Outside the lobby, seven ragged corpses stood twisted in place.
They were covered in wounds, and a chilling aura emanated from them, as if they had just crawled out of hell.
Xu Yan helped Chen Linshi up and walked her aside.
Chen Linshi stared blankly at the scene, unable to react, but she felt no chill from the corpses.
Only Wang Xun was different.
Wang Xun felt a chill run through his body; being stared at by these seven corpses felt like being in the deepest hell.
"save……"
He was about to say something, but the rest of his words were abruptly cut off.
Seven corpses rushed towards Wang Xun, moving so fast that they left afterimages.
Officer Guo reacted swiftly, drawing his sword and shouting, "Stop them!"
The constables regained their composure and then drew their swords, slashing at the seven corpses.
Xu Yan is watching a play.
He discovered that the corpse, after being infused with resentment, was so enigmatic that he couldn't even see its movements.
What surprised him even more were the constables.
After these constables drew their swords, faint wisps of energy swirled around the blades.
"This world doesn't seem to be what I thought it was; rather, it's mysterious."
Xu Yan thought to himself, and continued watching.
Guo, the head constable, was extremely strong. He fought three corpses alone and even gained the upper hand, and he even cut one of the corpses to the point of near destruction.
The remaining constables fought off the remaining corpses.
Magistrate Zhang sat firmly in his chair, his expression calm and composed, as steady as Mount Tai.
Xu Yan glanced at Magistrate Zhang and thought to himself that this man was not simple either.
Just then, a gust of wind blew.
The girl's corpse was short, and when no one noticed, it suddenly slipped through the gap and pounced straight at Wang Xun.
A low growl was heard, and Officer Guo prepared to turn around and rescue the officer.
Wang Xun felt a chill rush towards him, and instinctively assumed a fighting stance, raising his hand to throw a punch at the girl.
After this scene unfolded, Officer Guo's lips twitched slightly.
Anyone with a basic understanding of martial arts could tell that Wang Xun was skilled in kung fu.
When the fist made contact with the girl, her body tilted, and her limbs suddenly twisted, wrapping around Wang Xun like ropes.
"what!"
Wang Xun screamed as the girl's corpse bit his neck, spraying a large amount of blood more than a foot high.
"Help! Help!"
A ruthless glint flashed in Guo's eyes as he slashed repeatedly with his longsword, the blade's aura suddenly surging.
The three corpses were cleaved in two by the blade's energy.
He hurriedly turned around, came to Wang Xun's side, and slashed out with his sword again.
The girl's body was struck by the blade's energy, fell to the ground, twitched twice, and then remained still.
Wang Xun pressed down hard on his neck, his eyes rolled back, and his limbs twitched uncontrollably.
Officer Guo rushed forward, preparing to press on Wang Xun's wound.
Before he could hold him down, Wang Xun suddenly straightened up and fell to the ground motionless.
Officer Guo placed his hand below Wang Xun's nose and sighed, "He's dead."
