Chapter 66 Good Fool, Bad Fool
Chapter 66 Good Fool, Bad Fool
Chu Sheng glanced at An Bowen, then looked down at the gray, suffocating crowd below, and whispered, "Your Majesty, let's go and fetch them."
Amber nodded gently. She walked to the edge of the observatory, raised her hand, and green light gathered in her palm.
The next moment, the branches of the ancient tree below the observatory began to grow. Thick vines stretched out from the trunk and spread across the square. The broken vine bridge automatically lifted up, and large leaves sprouted from the cracks, forming a downward staircase.
Amber walked down the newly built wooden steps from the observatory. Chu Sheng followed behind her, cautiously glancing at the height.
As the Queen descended the steps, the people of the Gray Zone instinctively parted to the sides.
They had heard of the Queen's name, but never imagined that Amber would one day stand alive in front of them.
Several elderly people hurriedly bowed their heads, wanting to pay their respects.
The gray elves behind them also bent over. The children didn't understand, but the adults pressed their shoulders down.
"No," Amber quickly said.
She took a step forward and gestured to support the elderly gray elf who was about to kneel down.
The old man's hands trembled with fear: "Your Majesty, we..."
Amber whispered, "Please don't kneel."
The people in the Gray Domain were stunned.
Amber released her grip and took a half-step back. Then, she made a gesture towards the Gray Realm people.
With his right hand behind his back, he touches his forehead, while with his left hand covering his mouth.
This is an ancient elven etiquette, the most solemn royal salute in the Sacred Tree Forest. The hand placed on the forehead with the palm facing outwards represents a shared will; the hand covering the mouth with the palm facing inwards represents an inner vow.
Now, this gift is given to Gray Domain, to Silver Leaf, to Grandmother, and to everyone who has taken their name from under the Tree of Fate and protected that name all the way to the Royal Court.
The people in the gray area were completely dumbfounded; most of them couldn't understand the meaning of the gesture.
What does it mean when the queen covers her face, only showing her eyes? Is she shy?
But the old gray elf understood, and tears streamed down her face: "This...this cannot be allowed..."
"The Royal Court owes the Gray Domain a great debt." Amber's voice was slightly hoarse. "This gift is too meager. Today, I will repay a portion on behalf of the Royal Court."
Oh, it's a greeting!
The grey elves wanted to return the favor, but with the names still in their hands, they could only stand there dumbfounded.
Amber turned and looked towards the sacred tree. The light from the sacred tree rippled outwards in concentric circles, growing more urgent, as if calling a child home.
All the golden true names lit up at the same time.
In the square, the faces of the Gray People were illuminated by golden light. Amber raised her right hand, palm down.
A muffled sound came from the depths of the royal court!
The broken suspension bridge rejoined itself, the rotten vines shed their outer bark and sprouted new green shoots, the fallen giant trees were pushed aside by the new seedlings, and a wide road stretched from the center of the square into the depths of the forest.
But this path is not enough.
The sacred tree is in the deepest part of the forest, where there are deep valleys, broken bridges, and insurmountable natural barriers.
Amber walked forward. With each step she took, tree roots sprouted from the ground, forming new bridge surfaces. The bridge was wide enough for the Gray Domain team to pass side by side. Low wooden railings grew along the sides of the bridge, and tiny emerald green lights flickered on them.
The light shone along the bridge, illuminating the path to the sacred tree.
Amber walked at the front, personally clearing the way and building the bridge.
The people of the Grey Realm followed in the Queen's footsteps, and one Grey Elf household after another stepped onto the newly reborn wooden bridge.
Below the bridge lies the deep valley of the royal court, its floor covered with luminous moss. A breeze blows up from below, rustling the leaves on the bridge.
Many elderly people in the gray area have never walked this close to the royal court in their entire lives.
They were kept out when they were young, and thought that was how their lives would be in their old age. Who could have imagined that in the end, they would be led to the sacred tree by the Queen herself, bearing the names of the royal elves?
Chu Sheng stood at the back of the square, watching the line move forward, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The names of the royal court elves have all returned; the neem tree's schemes were no match for the power of nature and the kindness of the people of the Gray Domain.
It shouldn't be long before the sacred tree gives birth to a new batch of royal elves.
This new generation of royal elves should no longer abide by the strict rules passed down through generations, after all, their lives were not only given by the sacred tree, but also by the grey elves.
Arthur walked across the broken bridge, the Holy Sword slung over his back; Ella followed beside him, carrying two exceptionally large wooden basins containing a dozen or so names.
Audrey emerged from the shadows, and several cat-people scouts silently dispersed to either side behind her.
When Chu Sheng saw them, he wiped his lips somewhat guiltily, then waved.
"You've come at the right time." He pointed ahead, "We'll help out from behind."
Arthur glanced at him, his gaze inadvertently sweeping over Chu Sheng's lips: "Your injury hasn't healed yet, stand behind me."
Chu Sheng obediently took half a step back: "Okay."
Ella chuckled and wagged her tail, but then suddenly remembered the name in her arms and quickly tucked her tail between her legs.
Audrey walked over to Chu Sheng and looked at the long line ahead.
"The people in the gray area are amazing," she said softly.
Chu Sheng nodded: "Yes, the people have always been the most remarkable."
Audrey looked at him: "You didn't say anything strange."
Chu Sheng thought for a moment: "I am also a member of the people."
Audrey gave him a speechless look, then asked, "What about those fake elves?"
Seeing that everyone except Yinye was behind An Bowen who was walking in front, Chu Sheng didn't plan to call Yinye.
He sighed: "That fake Esta, she's a grey elf."
Arthur raised an eyebrow: "A grey elf? So all she did was because of racial hatred?"
Chu Sheng thought for a moment and then shook his head.
"It has nothing to do with racial hatred. Look ahead, do they look like they have a grudge?" He pointed.
"She's a pathological person. She appears selfless on the surface, but she's actually extremely selfish." Chu Sheng carefully chose his words. "She wants the whole world to revolve around her and wants to force everyone to agree with her ideas."
"That sounds like a madman." Arthur said expressionlessly. "You'll need to write me a detailed report after this, and I'll submit it to the Empire."
"She's less a madwoman and more a fool," Chu Sheng added. "She spent hundreds of years doing something completely meaningless, and in the end, the sacred tree didn't recognize her at all."
"Is she like Ella?" Ella hugged the wooden tub, a little sad. "You guys often say I'm stupid too."
Chu Sheng tiptoed and patted Ella's head: "That's different. You're a good fool, and she's a bad fool."
"Ella's such a fool!" Ella's eyes lit up. "By the way, Chu Sheng, did that tall guy mate with you?"
Chu Sheng's hand, which was touching his head, froze in mid-air, and he broke out in a cold sweat.
He felt two gazes silently falling on him from behind.
